The Lagos State Police Command has received additional operational assets from the Lagos State Security Trust Fund ahead of the official launch of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).
This is in a move aimed at strengthening crime-fighting operations and rapid emergency response across the state.
The initiative is part of the ongoing reform agenda of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
The operational support package presented to the Command includes two patrol vehicles, 50 ballistic helmets, 50 bulletproof vests, and 50 ballistic shields designed to improve the safety, operational efficiency, and response capability of officers attached to the new tactical unit.

Presenting the equipment on behalf of the LSSTF, Executive Secretary, Ayodele Ogunsan reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting security agencies with modern operational tools and logistics needed to guarantee public safety and effective policing in Lagos.
According to him, the intervention underscores the collaborative efforts between the Lagos State Government and security stakeholders to combat violent crimes and improve emergency response mechanisms in the nation’s commercial capital.
Receiving the assets on behalf of the Command, Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the LSSTF for their continued investment in security infrastructure and operational support for the police.
