The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has strengthened security operations in the state with the donation of bulletproof vests and ballistic helmets to the Lagos State Taskforce and the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA).
The intervention is aimed at enhancing the safety, mobility and operational efficiency of personnel involved in law enforcement and community security duties across Lagos State.
The items were formally presented during separate visits by the Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, accompanied by the Director of Administration, Adegbola Lewis.
The LSSTF delegation visited the Lagos State Taskforce Headquarters in Oshodi as well as the operational facility of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency.
During the visits, Dr. Ogunsan also toured key operational areas and personnel accommodation facilities, including dormitories at the Taskforce headquarters.
At the Taskforce headquarters, the donated equipment was received by the Chairman of the agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele.
Similarly, the General Manager of the LNSA, Prince Ifalade Oyekan, officially received the security equipment on behalf of his agency.
The donation included multiple units of ballistic helmets and bulletproof vests designed to improve personnel protection during enforcement and emergency operations.
Dr. Ogunsan said the intervention aligns with the LSSTF mandate of providing equipment, logistics and training support to all security agencies operating in Lagos State.
He described the LNSA as a critical institution in the state’s security architecture, noting that it plays a vital role in community-based safety operations.
According to him, the Fund remains committed to ensuring that security personnel are adequately equipped to meet global standards in maintaining law and order.
He clarified that the anti-riot gear is intended strictly for maintaining public order during protests, civil disturbances and emergency situations, not for aggression.
Dr. Ogunsan emphasized that protecting security operatives is essential, stressing that officers must be well equipped to effectively safeguard citizens.
The Chairman of the Taskforce, CSP Akerele, commended LSSTF for its consistent support, saying the donation would boost morale and improve operational effectiveness.
In the same vein, Prince Oyekan praised the intervention as timely, adding that it would strengthen rapid response capacity and enhance community safety across Lagos State.
