As part of the activities marking the 2026 National Police Day, the Assistant Inspector General of Police Olohundare Moshood Jimoh led Zone 2 Police Command has scaled up campaign against election violence and dangerous driving.

AIG Jimoh urged residents and commercial drivers in Lagos and Ogun states to eschew election violence and practice safe driving.
Jimoh engaged participants in a series of awareness programmes designed to curb election violence and promote safe driving practices across Lagos and Ogun States.

This is contained in a statement by Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Afolayan Gbenga.

At the Zonal Headquarters, stakeholders, members of the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, and residents gathered for an interactive session under the ongoing sensitisation drive.

The session focused on the dangers of election violence, including ballot snatching, and the responsibilities of citizens in preventing such acts.
Participants were urged to support security agencies by remaining vigilant and law-abiding, as the Police intensified sensitisation efforts ahead of future electoral activities.
The programme emphasised that preventing election violence requires collective action, with communities playing a central role in sustaining peace and democratic integrity.
In Lagos, the outreach extended to commercial drivers at Obalende garage, where the Police reinforced the importance of safe driving practices as part of the broader sensitisation campaign.
AIG Jimoh charged drivers to comply strictly with traffic regulations, avoid reckless driving, overloading, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
He noted that adherence to safe driving practices is essential to reducing accidents and maintaining order on the roads.
The engagement highlighted the strategic role of drivers in ensuring public safety, particularly within the framework of the ongoing Lagos Ogun sensitisation programme.
The AIG commended stakeholders for their active participation and support for the sensitisation initiative.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustained public engagement aimed at addressing election violence and promoting safe driving practices.
According to him, the Zone 2 Command will continue to prioritise awareness campaigns that enhance public safety and strengthen collaboration between the Police and communities in Lagos and Ogun States.
