The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Olohundare Jimoh has assured Nigerians of a crime free Eid- el-Fitr celebrations.

AIG Jimoh who gave the assurance while exercising a strategic ‘show of force’ across the state said his men had be put on 24 hour surveillance with a view to ensuring seamless and peaceful celebrations of the Muslims’ festival.

He stressed that the state has been effectively fortified against any potential security threats.

Speaking with journalists during the operation, the police boss explained that the round-the-clock deployment of officers is aimed at boosting public confidence, enhancing rapid response to emergencies, and deterring criminal activities before, during, and after the celebrations.

He said they are not leaving anything to chance, as officers are on 24-hour duty across Lagos, saying residents should go about their lawful activities without fear. We have adequately deployed personnel and operational assets to guarantee safety,” he said.

The show of force featured a joint security exercise involving personnel of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, and Nigerian Air Force, alongside other agencies including the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The coordinated display highlighted the inter-agency collaboration adopted to sustain law and order in the state.

As part of the operation, security convoys traversed key areas of Lagos, including Oshodi and the Third Mainland Bridge, extending to the palace of the Oba of Lagos.

The exercise also covered Agege, where recent unrest involving youths had sparked concern among residents following clashes on Monday, March 16, 2026.

Addressing the situation in Agege, AIG Jimoh issued a stern warning against any act capable of disrupting public peace, noting that lawlessness would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

“We will not allow anyone to take the law into their hands. Those involved in violence or criminal acts will face the full weight of the law,” he warned.

The police commissioner revealed that eight suspects have already been arrested in connection with the clashes, adding that ongoing investigations are aimed at apprehending other individuals linked to the incident.

During the patrol, the CP and his entourage also visited the Federal Highway Patrol CCTV Monitoring Centre located on the Third Mainland Bridge.

The facility, donated by the Federal Ministry of Works to the Lagos State Police Command, provides 24-hour surveillance coverage of the bridge and its surrounding environment.

AIG Jimoh noted that the centre plays a critical role in real-time monitoring and swift response to incidents along the bridge corridor.

He further disclosed that Marine Police operatives have been strategically stationed beneath the bridge on a 24-hour basis to monitor activities on the waterways and ensure rapid intervention when necessary.

The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state, urging residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies, and celebrate responsibly during the Eid festivities.
