‎The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu has disbursed a total of N2.43 billion to families of deceased police officers under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes.

‎Disu presented cheques to 1,075 beneficiaries and next-of-kin of officers who died in active service, covering policy years from 2018 to 2026.

‎Speaking at the ceremony, the IGP described the event as a solemn recognition of the sacrifices made by fallen officers.

He noted that the payments also included long-standing insurance claims that had remained unsettled for years.

‎He said this ceremony represents more than the presentation of financial benefits; it is a solemn acknowledgement of the courage, commitment, and ultimate sacrifices made by officers who served this nation with honour.

‎Disu reaffirmed that the welfare of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force remains a top priority under his leadership, and the Force must demonstrate compassion to families of personnel who paid the ultimate price.

‎Addressing the families, he expressed condolences, noting that the deceased officers were not only security personnel but also breadwinners and pillars of their communities.

‎The police pledged reforms aimed at improving efficiency in processing welfare benefits, including the deployment of technology to enhance transparency and accountability.
‎He also commended the Force Insurance Unit and partnering insurance firms for facilitating the payments and assured that outstanding claims would be settled promptly.
