President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and mutual respect as Christians across the country celebrate Christmas.
Tinubu urges citizens to draw inspiration from the timeless message of love and goodwill symbolised by the birth of Jesus Christ.
In his 2025 Christmas goodwill message, the President described Christmas as more than a season of festivity, noting that it is a sacred period that invites deep reflection on faith, compassion, and humanity’s shared responsibility to one another.
Tinubu said the birth of Jesus Christ represents hope for a troubled world, reminding Nigerians that Christ’s message as the Prince of Peace remains relevant in addressing the nation’s social, economic, and security challenges.
He extended warm Christmas greetings to Christians in Nigeria and across the globe, thanking God for the privilege of leading the country and offering prayers for peace, harmony, and understanding among Nigerians of all religious persuasions.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting religious freedom, stressing that no Nigerian should face discrimination, intimidation, or violence because of their faith or beliefs.
According to Tinubu, Christians in Nigeria have continued to play a vital role in national development, contributing significantly to education, healthcare, social welfare, and moral guidance across communities.
He praised Christian organisations and individuals who have consistently shown compassion by caring for the poor, vulnerable, and displaced, describing their actions as a practical demonstration of Christ’s love.
The President also commended citizens who work tirelessly to promote peace, tolerance, and coexistence, particularly in communities affected by insecurity and social tension.
Tinubu acknowledged that many Nigerians are passing through difficult times but encouraged them to remain hopeful, assuring that God’s presence offers strength even in moments of despair.
Reflecting on his assumption of office in 2023, the President reiterated that safeguarding Nigeria’s unity, stability, and security remains a top priority of his administration.
He emphasised that the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property is anchored on the Constitution and guided by faith in God, ensuring that all Nigerians can live and worship in safety and dignity.
Tinubu stressed that shared values of love for God and humanity, common to all major faiths, must continue to serve as the bond that unites Nigeria as one indivisible nation.
He disclosed that his administration has maintained active engagement with religious leaders from different faiths, especially in addressing concerns around intolerance and insecurity.
The President assured Nigerians that these engagements would be strengthened to deepen collaboration between government and faith-based institutions in preventing conflict and fostering peaceful coexistence.
As Nigerians travel to celebrate the season with loved ones, Tinubu urged motorists and commuters to exercise patience, discipline, and caution on the roads to ensure safe journeys.
He concluded by expressing confidence in divine guidance and collective national resolve, assuring Nigerians that the task of building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria will continue into the new year, while wishing all citizens a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance.
