The Lagos State Government has trained and empowered sixty retired officers with income-generating skills to promote a sustainable post-service life and keep them productively engaged.

Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Sunkanmi Oyegbola, stated this at the closing ceremony of a two day training on fish farming and catering organised by the Office of the Head of Service, Public Service Office at Alausa, Ikeja.

Oyegbola said the initiative stands as a clear demonstration of the State Government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and continuous empowerment of those who have served the State with exceptional loyalty, diligence, and dedication.

She spoke through the Director, Post Service Department, Bukonla Durodola, saying the training reflected the state government’s recognition that retirees remain invaluable members of the society and must not be left behind.

The Permanent Secretary, said the training was carefully designed to equip them with the requisite knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial mindset to lead a fulfilling, productive, and financially sustainable life after service.

Oyegbola commended the retirees, noting that they have once again exemplified the resilience, dedication, and excellence that have long characterized the Lagos State Public Service.

She urged them not to let the knowledge and skills they had acquired during the training go to waste.

”Over the past two days, our facilitators have delivered a comprehensive and highly practical training.

Beyond the acquisition of skills, I am confident that this programme has reignited in each of you the flame of entrepreneurship and self-reliance that defines the spirit of the Lagos State Public Service.

Permit me to reiterate a fundamental message: retirement does not mark an end, but rather the beginning of a new phase of purpose and productivity” Oyegbola added.

With the steadfast support of the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, this training has been thoughtfully designed to equip you with the essential knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial mindset needed to lead a fulfilling, productive, and financially sustainable life after service,” she said.

”You are now adequately prepared to establish and manage small and medium-scale enterprises that not only guarantee economic independence but also ensure your active engagement”

The Permanent Secretary said.

”To our distinguished retirees, I wish to commend your remarkable enthusiasm, discipline, and active participation throughout this training”

One of the beneficiaries of the training programme, Yetunde Simpson, who commended the state government for the laudable empowerment programme, said the training has exposed them to a new line of businesses that they never thought of.
