The Federal Government has declared Friday, 5th September, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The Government rejoices with Nigerians Muslims on the joyous occasion.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, declared the day work free on behalf of the Federal Government.
Ojo urged the Muslim community to emulate the Prophet’s principles of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion.
He emphasising that the ideals are essential for fostering a united and progressive nation.
The minister also encouraged Nigerians of all beliefs to utilise the occasion to pray for the peace, security, and stability of the nation while supporting governmental initiatives aimed at national cohesion and sustainable development.
Ojo added that the observance of Eid-ul-Mawlid presents the people with another chance to strengthen the ties of brotherhood, advocate for peaceful coexistence, and embrace the Prophet’s teachings of mutual respect and selfless service to humanity.
He urged citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant regarding security, and supportive of government policies designed to enhance the welfare of all Nigerians, while wishing Muslims a joyful and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
The Minister made this known in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
