President Bola Tinubu has defended his recent foreign trips, insisting that every handshake and agreement abroad is aimed at securing prosperity for Nigerians.
Tinubu, who returned to Abuja after a 10-day bilateral engagement in Brazil, Japan, and a brief stop in Los Angeles, United States, said the visits were centered on unlocking opportunities that will create jobs and drive economic growth.
The president on his official X account, explained that his engagements in Japan focused on attracting investments in industry, technology, and human capital.
He added that discussions in Brazil advanced partnerships in trade, agriculture, aviation, and finance, while also strengthening investor confidence in Nigeria’s economy.
“Every handshake, every agreement, and every meeting is guided by one goal: to secure opportunities that translate into growth, jobs, and prosperity for Nigerians,” Tinubu wrote.
Highlighting the broader vision of his foreign policy, Tinubu stressed that his administration is committed to building a Nigeria founded on lasting reforms rather than empty promises.
“This is the new Nigeria we are building together, a Nigeria built on sustainable reforms that will outlast us rather than one built on rhetoric,” he added.
He said every one of his international engagements is being motivated by the responsibility Nigerians entrusted to him in 2023 to restore Nigeria’s pride and dignity on the global stage.
Tinubu adds that in line with the task, the foreign trips and his administration’s reform programmes are aimed at securing opportunities that would lead to growth, job creation and prosperity for all Nigerians.
The President stated this shortly after arrival from Japan and Brazil, saying his engagements in the Asian and South American nations focused on unlocking critical investments.
