Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi has reiterated his commitment to playing for the team at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in December rather than playing in the Premier League for Fulham
The 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Morocco, will take place from 21st December, 2025, to 18th January, 2026.
The former Arsenal star also disclosed that Gunners legend, Ian Wright remains one of his role models.

The duo of Super Eagles players, Ani Ozoemena, and Abdularafiu Taiwo are doubtful for the team’s next game against Sudan at the 2024 African Nations Championship.
Ozoemena, a goalkeeper missed the Super Eagles one-nil defeat to Senegal due to a knee problem.
Left-back Taiwo, who started the Group D encounter picked up a knock in the second half.
The team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, said the duo missed the team’s recovery session on Wednesday.
The encounter with the Sudanese will hold next week Tuesday at the Amman Stadium, Zanzibar.

The Nigeria international has agreed a permanent transfer to the Turkish Super Lig giants.
Besiktas reached agreement with Leicester City to sign him the player this week, after expressing their desire to trigger the release in his contract.
Ndidi will put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the option of another year.
A number of Nigerian football stars recently moved to Turkey including Paul Onuachu for Trabzonspor, Henry Onyekuru for Genclerbirligi, and Victor Osimhen for Galatasaray.
Nasarawa United has unveiled their new technical adviser Mbwas Mangut.
The 47-year-old replaces Salisu Yusuf, who left the role at the end of last season.
Yusuf, a former Super Eagles assistant coach has joined Beninoise club Coton FC.
Mangut brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in football management.

Olatunji linked up with Real Salt Lake from Czech First Division club Sparta Prague.

Everton has completed the signing of midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Chelsea for a fee of about twenty-eight million pounds.
The fee for the 26-year-old is an initial twenty-four million pounds, with a further three to four million pounds due in add-ons.

Burnley has completed the signing of French midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu from Chelsea for a fee of more than twenty million pounds.
The 21-year-old has signed a five-year deal at Turf Moor.
Ugochukwu was considered surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea look to sell multiple players in their so-called ‘bomb squad’ – a group of players including England internationals Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell – training separately from Enzo Maresca’s first team.
The EFL says there are no restrictions stopping Sheffield Wednesday starting the Championship season on Sunday but called on the troubled club’s owner to end the current uncertainty and impasse.
In a statement, the EFL said it has extended the fee restriction on the club, meaning they are unable to complete any transfers or loans which involve a fee until after the January 2027 winter transfer window.
The Hillsborough side, who travel to Leicester City for their season opener on Sunday, have lost one hundred and seventy-eight million pounds between 2015, when Thai businessman Chansiri bought the club, and 2024.
The EFL met on Wednesday to get a comprehensive update on the situation at the Hillsborough club and, as a result said there are no restrictions on the club starting the season on Sunday as planned.

Former Bayern Munich forward, Thomas Muller has joined Major League Soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps for the rest of the 2025 season.
The 35-year-old left the German side at the end of last season when his contract expired, bringing an end to his 25-year association with the Bundesliga champions.
Vancouver’s deal includes the option to sign Muller as a designated player for the 2026 MLS season, each club is allowed three DPs whose wages are not counted against their salary cap.
He will officially join the club upon receipt of his international transfer certificate, visa and work permit.
OTHER SPORTS
In Boxing, British boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has disclosed that the potential fight between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul may happen in 2026.
Joshua is coming off a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois, which took place last September, and is looking for a fight to bounce back amid links with Tony Yoka.
Hearn said the fight could happen after talks with MVP co-founder Nakisa Badarian but also issued a warning to Jake.

Rugby’s authorities have no immediate plans to follow American football’s NFL in banning ‘smelling salts’ over concerns they may mask concussion symptoms.
Smelling salts, a pungent mix of ammonia, water and ethanol are marketed as improving mental alertness or boosting energy.
In a memo to their teams, obtained by the Associated Press, external the NFL warned smelling salts also have the potential to mask certain neurological signs and symptoms, including some potential signs of concussion.
