Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected member of a robbery gang after allegedly stealing human hair extensions worth ₦20 million from a moving truck on the CMS-Marina Bridge in Lagos.
Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest, stating that officers from the Ebute-Ero Division apprehended the suspect, identified as Austine, following a rapid response to a tip-off received on 25th April, 2025.
Hundeyin, a Chief Superintendent of Police, said preliminary findings revealed that the suspect and his gang targeted a truck in motion, stealing a sack containing premium human hair products without the driver’s awareness.
According to him, the stolen items were later recovered from Austine, who was found injured at the Marina car park after jumping from the bridge in an attempt to evade capture.
He said he is currently receiving medical treatment under tight security, while authorities intensify efforts to track down other members of the gang.
Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, applauded the swift action of the responding officers and reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to securing Lagos roadways.
He also encouraged citizens to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior to the police.
