The Commissioner of Police, Police Special Fraud Unit Ikoyi-Lagos, CP Okunade Nurat, has emphasised the need for professionalism, civility, and accountability among Team Managers of the unit.
Nurat said this during a strategic meeting, charging officers to maintain the highest standards of conduct when interacting with the public.
She stressed that civility and respect are essential for effective policing and building public trust,
The Commissioner underscored the importance of respecting and protecting fundamental human rights as enshrined in Chapter IV of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).
She reminded officers on the need to ascertain the condition of suspects before and after detention in line with the provisions of section 8 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015; as safeguarding these rights is sacrosanct to building public trust.
Highlighting the importance of accountability, Nurat, urged officers to take full responsibility of their actions and ensure close supervision of men working under them.
In her remarks, she stated that effective supervision improves discipline and enhances operational efficiency.
She concluded by reaffirming the Unit’s commitment to promoting integrity, responsiveness and accountability.
