In a bid to bolster border security and streamline migration management, the Nigeria Immigration Service, Lagos State Command, has sought for the collaboration of the Lagos State Police Command to collective secured the extensive borders.

Its Comptroller of Immigration, D.O. Adebambo articulated the importance of partnering with the Police Command to achieve shared objectives, such as improving security measures and streamlining immigration processes within the State.

Adebambo emphasised the importance of sustained synergy among stakeholders in combating trans-border crimes.

He highlighted that the Service is committed to implementing digital strategies for enhanced border governance and national security.

The Comptroller of Immigration, highlighted the importance of sustained synergy among stakeholders in combating trans-border crimes when he paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police Moshood Jimoh at the Police Command in Ikeja.

The Immigration boss commended the police for their collaboration with the service, stressing that his visit was to seek for continuation.

Adebambo said the service was always happy to collaborate with sister agencies in operations, particularly, on intelligence gathering, saying there are many areas they are collaborating with the police, including intelligence sharing.

According to him, the Police can give us actionable intelligence that we can deploy to better the operation of my office, such is highly welcomed, saying this is one of the reasons I am here to seek synergy with the CP.

On illegal immigrants, Adebambo said the service has been going out to sensitise market people, transporters about illegal immigrants.

“We told them if they see something, they should say something. If we have intelligence about illegal immigrants, we always act on it swiftly,” he said.

And it is important as co-travelers, we are uniformed personnel.

The primary aim of all the uniformed personnel is the security of the nation.

Nigerian Immigration Service is tasked, like you know, with the management of migration as well as border management.

In border management, we have new vistas of a new way of doing things, contrary to what was in the past.

But to cturb the issue of the incessant and the unmitigated migration of irregular migrants to Nigeria, the service introduced e-border.

And what is e-border? At the border areas, there were installations of masks. And on the masks, we have cameras that are installed on those masks.”

Welcoming the Comptroller of Immigration, the Police Commissioner who also commended the Nigeria Immigration Service for their collaboration, assured them of their continued synergy.

CP Jimoh therefore, pledged the Command’s cooperation as they strived to ensue a safer Lagos State.
