President Bola Tinubu has pledged to maintain Nigeria’s economic momentum, which has resulted in a decrease in food prices, especially during Ramadan.

President Tinubu stated this while addressing the National Executive Committee meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the party’s Secretariat in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Tinubu said this commitment is part of his administration’s efforts to address fiscal issues and reshape Nigeria’s economic landscape.

He highlighted the country’s progress in security, food security, and economy, expressing gratitude for the party’s electoral successes and welcoming new members to the national assembly.

The President also emphasised the need for a bigger venue for their gatherings.

President Tinubu also called for reconciliatory committees to address aggrieved party members, emphasising the need for calm and unity within the party.

“In all the various States, let us set up reconciliatory committees to liaise with these aggrieved leaders. I am appealing to them, please be calm.”

Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to Nigeria’s economic recovery and national development after receiving a resounding vote of confidence from the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee (NEC).

Speaking at the APC NEC meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, President Tinubu described the endorsement as both an honour and a challenge to work even harder for the prosperity of Nigerians.

He assured that the country was on a steady path to economic stability, with notable progress in food security, investment, and governance reforms.

“I am happy with your vote of confidence, and I accept it. The vote is a challenge to do more work; we will vigorously pursue our sovereignty in food security, investment, and development,” the President said.

Acknowledging the recent decline in food prices as a positive sign ahead of Ramadan, Tinubu expressed optimism about the nation’s trajectory.

The President also commended APC governors and party leaders for their unwavering support and praised the National Working Committee for its efforts in strengthening the party’s foundation. However, he urged swift resolution of internal disputes in some states, calling for committees to mediate and foster unity.

In his remarks, APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, acknowledged the challenges the ruling party has faced but assured members that the government remains committed to delivering on its electoral promises.

“Though the journey has been very challenging for us as a ruling party, given the big task we have at hand and the expectations from Nigerians, we can sufficiently submit that we have collectively risen to the occasion,” Ganduje said.

Ganduje, also spoke, echoing this sentiment, highlighting the party’s achievements, including improved membership, reconciliation efforts, and the establishment of the Progressive Institute.

“To strengthen our National Working Committee (NWC), we’ve engaged with various international dignitaries, including ambassadors from Britain, the European Union, Ghana, and Jamaica, We have also participated in conferences across Africa to foster inter-party relationships and discuss key issues,” Ganduje said.

APC’s National Chairman further said these efforts have helped to build a stronger, more united party, and the NWC is committed to continuing this progress.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas also reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to supporting the administration through legislative reforms aimed at economic growth and national development.

The APC NEC meeting followed a party caucus gathering on Tuesday night, where leaders lauded the Tinubu administration for steering the economy toward recovery. They highlighted recent economic gains, including a 3.84% GDP growth in the last quarter of 2024 and a downward trend in inflation.
