The new Lagos State Police Commissioner CP Moshood Jimoh has assumed duty as the 41st Commissioner of Police in Lagos State Command.
Reports says the former Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Ishola was absent during the resumption of CP Jimoh as there was no handing over ceremony, which usually characterised such event.
CP Jimoh addressed both newsmen and Senior Officers of the command at the conference hall in Ikeja.
He said the former CP and senior officers have thoroughly briefed him on the crimes situation and all other issues of concern in Lagos State.
The CP said the command has done their best under the leadership of his predecessor to ensure peace, security and protection of all Lagosians in the State.
According to him, their achievements will definitely be improved upon and strengthened to further reduce all forms of crimes and criminalities throughout the length and breadth of Lagos State to barest level.
Jimoh noted that though crimes and criminalities in the State were not alarming, stressing that they were surmountable.
He assured that under his leadership, they will redouble efforts and work assiduously with the Lagos State Government and good people of the state to further reduce the fear of crime, the commission of crimes and all forms of criminalities to minimum level.
According to him, this will enable the law abiding people of the State and corporate entities both local, and multinationals to go about day to day businesses and their means of livelihood peacefully.
He said the Police under his command will work very hard to ensure protection of the huge investments of all investors; Government Investments, and Local and Foreign Investments in the State.
Jimoh appreciated the IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, for finding him worthy and entrusting him with the responsibility of serving as Commissioner of Police, Lagos State.
The Police boss assured all that Policing with International best practices and standards, which is one of the key Policing visions and missions of I-GP Egbetokun, will be strictly adhered to and fully implemented for the benefit of all Lagosians and visitors to the State.
Before his appointment, Jimoh served as the Commissioner of Police at the Ports Authority for the Eastern Ports.
Jimoh, who hails from Kwara, previously held several significant roles, including Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Airport Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Finance and Administration, and Deputy Commissioner of Police for General Investigation.
Jimoh had undergone several professional training courses, including the Combat Operations Course at the Mobile Training College in Maiduguri, the African Union Mission in Darfur, Sudan, and Weapons of Mass Destruction Counter-measure First Responder Training at an institute in the United States.
Other training programmes Jimoh had attended include Social Construction and Management Reform in China, the Executive Leadership Academy in Pudong, China, Maritime Rescue and Salvage for Developing Countries in China, and the Maritime Academy in Ningbo, China.
Additionally, Jimoh had received training in Anti-Hijacking Techniques and Tactics for Developing Countries at Yunnan Police College in Kunming, China, and at the Police Training Institute in Seoul, South Korea.
CP Jimoh is also a recipient of the Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year, in recognition of his exceptional qualities and significant contributions to the development and application of Public Relations, awarded by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.
