The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced plans to confiscate vehicles with tinted glasses as part of measures to tackle the rising security challenges in the country.
During a news briefing in Abuja, the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, emphasised that no individual is permitted to use tinted vehicle glasses.
Disu attributed the use of tinted windows to increasing lawlessness and security risks, stating that “officers need to have visibility inside vehicles.”
He highlighted instances where victims of kidnappings disclosed that tinted windows prevented others from noticing their distress.
Disu also pointed out the issue of criminals either covering or removing their vehicle number plates to evade identification.
The commissioner warned FCT residents that the police would strictly enforce laws prohibiting tinted glasses.
He reaffirmed the commitment to ensuring public safety, stating that non-compliance would no longer be tolerated.
