Super Eagles camp for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday five encounter against Benin Republic will open in Abidjan on Monday, 10th November.

The three-time African champions are scheduled to take on the Cheetahs at the Felix Houphet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan on Thursday, 14th November.

All the invited players will travel direct to Abidjan from their bases.

The Super Eagles will also entertain the Amavubi of Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Monday, 18th November.

The team’s interim coach Augustine Eguavoen is expected to unveil his squad for both games this week.

Nottingham Forest head coach, Nuno Espirito Santo has heaped praise on Super Eagles defender Ola Aina’s stunning goal against West Ham in Saturday’s Premier League game.

The Nigerian international scored a wonderful third goal for Nottingham Forest after Chris Wood and Callum Hudson-Odoi had given the team a comfortable lead.

Barcelona has continued its excellent early-season form under Hansi Flick as the La Liga leaders beat Espanyol three-one to move nine points clear of Real Madrid.

Dani Olmo scored a brace while Raphinha scored a goal for Barcelona and Espanyol’s only goal was scored by Javi Puado.

Holders Rangers staged a second-half comeback to secure a Scottish League Cup final place against Celtic, with Nedim Bajrami’s late deflected strike eventually decisive.

Motherwell threatened to heap more pressure on manager Philippe Clement after a run of poor results.

Cyriel Dessers scored a goal for Rangers while Motherwell’s only goal was scored by Andy Halliday.

In Tennis, Germany’s Alexander Zverev claimed a straight-set win over home favourite Ugo Humbert to clinch his first Paris Masters title.

The new world number two beat the French number one 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday to secure the seventh ATP 1000 title of his career.

Both were playing in their fourth final of the year, with Zverev having lost the French Open final to Carlos Alcaraz in June.

Zverev’s semi-final win on Saturday was enough to ensure the 27-year-old will now leapfrog Alcaraz and regain second spot in the ATP rankings.

In Formula one, Max Verstappen has climbed up from 17th on the grid to win the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, one of his greatest victories taking him to the brink of a fourth world title.

Rival Lando Norris of McLaren had a difficult race, finishing sixth after a couple of key errors, to fall 62 points adrift off Verstappen with 86 still available in the final three races.

Verstappen will become world champion if he leaves the next race at Las Vegas on 23rd November with a lead of at least sixty points.

Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly took the final two podium places to transform Alpine’s season and move the team up from ninth in the constructors’ championship to sixth.

In Cricket, New Zealand sealed a historic three-nil series clean sweep over India with a thrilling 25-run win on day three of the third and final Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

It is India’s first clean-sweep defeat in a home Test series since South Africa’s 2-0 win in 2000, and their first in a series of three Tests or more.

New Zealand had never won a Test series in India and had not won a single Test for 36 years before their eight-wicket victory in the series opener in Bengaluru.

In Basketball, the NBA says it is investigating after Philadelphia 76ers centre Joel Embiid had an alleged physical altercation with a reporter.

Embiid confronted the reporter in the Philadelphia locker room about an article that referred to his son and late brother, and criticising his fitness and professionalism.

The seven-time NBA All-Star and 2023 Most Valuable Player has yet to play this season because of a knee issue.

The incident happened after the 76ers’ 124-107 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.

In Rugby, England prop Joe Marler has retired from international rugby having won ninety-five caps.

Marler made his England debut during the 2012 summer tour of South Africa and was part of three Six Nations-winning sides in 2016, 2017 and 2020.

He also represented England at three World Cups, including in 2019 when they were beaten by South Africa in the final.

Abdi Nageeye surged past former champion Evans Chebet in the final stretch to win the men’s race at the New York City Marathon in two hours seven minutes thirty-nine seconds.

Dutch runner Nageeye finished six seconds ahead of 2022 winner Chebet, with Albert Korir taking third place and last year’s winner and Olympic champion Tamirat Tola placing fourth.

Kenyan runner Sheila Chepkirui, won the women’s event in 2:24.35, finishing fourteen seconds ahead of 2023 winner Hellen Obiri.

Chepkirui, who won ten thousand metres bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, led an all-Kenyan podium, with Vivian Cheruiyot taking third place.
