Former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, has urged Nigerians of all religious and ethnic backgrounds to support the nation’s leadership through prayers for national prosperity.

Speaking in Abuja, at the National Bible Quiz Programme organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Voice of Evangelism International, Gana emphasised that the challenges facing the country requires divine intervention, beyond the capabilities of those in authority.

Gana also called on political elites to work collaboratively with President Bola Tinubu, to develop effective solutions to pressing issues such as poverty, hunger, unemployment, and youth restiveness.

He stressed the importance of parents instilling strong moral values in their children and encouraged religious leaders to use biblical teachings to guide the younger generation.

Most Reverend Daniel Okoh, President of CAN, represented by Venerable Princewill Ireoba, Director of Ecumenism, echoed the call for the church to engage more actively in religious programs aimed at youth development.

Okoh affirmed CAN’s commitment to teaching the transformative power of God’s word to the younger generation.

Archbishop Emeka Agwu, Coordinator of Voice of Evangelism International, highlighted that national transformation is achievable if leaders from all major religions unite to support the current administration’s renewed hope initiatives.

He encouraged church leaders to focus on rural evangelism and disseminate the true teachings of the Bible, which he believes are essential for guiding leadership decisions.

The event also featured the Grand Finale of the 2024 Champion of Champions National Bible Quiz competition, with participants from 15 states across the country competing for top honors.
