The Lagos State Government has sought the collaboration of the People’s Republic of China on transfer of technology knowledge to the Nigerian youths.

Secretary to the State Government, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, made the call during a courtesy visit and donation of medical materials by Wang Luming, the Chairman, Standing Committee of Qingdao Municipal People’s Congress of China.

The medical equipment donated included ventilator trolley, electronic sphygmomanometer; disposable protective clothing; mercury thermometer; and voice blood glucose meter.

Salu-Hundeyin, said the partnership could be through the establishment of companies and warehouses in the state.

She commended the Qingdao delegation for choosing Lagos State as the first city to visit in Africa, as they had taken wise decision to partner with the state.

”China has emerged as a global leader in technology, innovation and industrial growth, the transfer of your verse technology knowledge would further aid development of Lagos State and Nigeria,” she said.

According to her, Nigerian youths are intelligent, smart and ready for the transfer of knowledge, to make the nation greater and better for the citizens.

She appreciated the delegation for the donated medical equipment.

Salu-Hundeyin said the equipment would aid the capacity of the government to provide quality health service to the people, in line with the Health and Environment Pillar of the THEMES+ Developmental Agenda.

”The gesture of the medical equipment is a testament to the enduring friendship and collaboration between Lagos State and China, and the commitment to the well-being of the people.

”The Lagos State Government will continue to foster the existing bilateral relationship with China,” Salu-Hundeyin said.

She said apart from the existing areas of collaboration, the state government would love to partner with Qingdao on agriculture, education, health and trade.

Speaking, Luming, the Chairman, Standing Committee of Qingdao Municipal People’s Congress, said the purpose of the visit was to strengthen bilateral trade development and cooperation of the two cities.

He appreciated the warm welcome from the state government, adding that the visit was to establish relationship with Lagos State, and hand over the medical equipment.

Chairman, All Progressive Congress, Lagos State, Cornelius Ojelabi, appreciated the delegation for being part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s developmental strides in Lagos State.

Ojelabi said Lagos State had long-standing bilateral relationship with China, and the gesture of Qingdao would deepen the collaboration for a greater partnership.

The highpoint of the programme was the signing of Sister-City Agreements between the two cities, to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, science and technology; culture, and capacity building.

Special Adviser on Health, Olukemi Ogunyemi, also signed the Medical Donation Agreement, to foster and facilitate bilateral relationships to create China-Africa/Nigeria healthcare community, through collaborations and financial aids in the areas of medical supplies.

The signing of both agreements was conducted by the Attorney General/ Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro, SAN.
