President Bola Tinubu has explained the reasons behind the decision to reintroduce the old Nigerian national anthem.
Tinubu said the verse in the new national anthem which says “I’m proud to serve,” describes resilient Nigerians determined to serve to make a positive impact.
Speaking at the unveiling of the commercial operations of the Abuja Light Rail System, President Tinubu said the zeal of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike to deliver the project on time was commendable and a sign of a Nigerian determined to serve the people.
The President applauded the implementation of the project, which was initiated by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2007 as part of a move to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The Abuja metro light rail is a 45.245km standard gauge rail line starting from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to the Abuja metro station.
The rail links 13 communities with 12 stations including the Abuja Metro, Stadium, Kukwaba 1 and 2, Wupa, Idu, Bassanjiwa, Airport, Gwagwa Dei-Dei, Kagini and Gbazango.
President Tinubu after cutting the tape took a ride on it along with other dignitaries.
