The Federal Government should allocate funds generated from fuel subsidies towards prompt infrastructural development, ensuring citizens’ immediate and tangible benefits.
The government should address factors militating against successful implementation of governmental policies which include; knowledge deficiencies, corruption, and lack of effective control.
This is according to the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria, ICSAN, which beliefs that the government policies must take their time to gain traction particularly given the peculiarity of the realities on ground.

ICSAN President and Council Chairman, Funmi Ekundayo said this at a Presidential News Briefing in Lagos where she called on the Federal Government to establish a conducive business environment that fosters growth and prosperity.
Ekundayo who is the first female President contends that the government should demonstrate support for the private sector by eliminating obstacles that could impede their operations.
She stressed that a gestation period for the government to give better socio-economic satisfaction to the citizens
Ekundayo advocated for increased intervention from the Federal Government to alleviate the impact of inflation on the citizens.
She emphasised that despite the government’s awareness of economic challenges, it is crucial to hold them accountable for areas where they fall short.
In her words, the government should lead by example if it urges citizens to tighten their belts, saying there is hope if the government is moving in the right direction.
According to her, if most Nigerians are tolerating socio-economic hardship, it is not appropriate to see the level of economic wastage; the government should be cautious and not be seen as not acting on what they preach.
She emphasised that the government must reshape its narrative to prevent the mass emigration of Nigerians, particularly the youth.
On the upcoming review of the National Minimum Wage next year, Ekundayo suggested comprehensive and meaningful consultations with relevant stakeholders, including labor unions and pensioners’ unions.
According to her, this would facilitate the development of a proposal that is acceptable and equitable for all parties involved.
She recommended the need to overhaul the public sector, stating that lack of coordinated systematic planning and poor implementation of policy guidelines with its concomitant poor service delivery has continued to undermine the operations and effectiveness of the public sector.
Ekundayo appealed to Nigerian to be patient and understanding with the hardship caused by the economic initiatives of the government.
Sh explained that the hardships the country is currently facing would eventually vanish and give way to a more equitable, prosperous and inclusive economy.
Ekundayo urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the various economic policies by the President Bola Tinubu led administration to gestate and have projected impact on the society.
According to her, citizens must consider the rationale leading to the fuel subsidy removal and the benefits accrued to us as a nation, which may not be felt immediately.
In her words, Citizens must continue to set the tone for what they want to see to put the government on their toes as it is on us all to ensure that things pick up economically.
“It is important that the cost of governance must be at its barest minimum; if government is tasking people to forebear, they must take the lead.
Addressing the 2024 budget, Ekundayo said its early presentation signified a right measure in the right direction, leading to early discussion, approval, implementation and the positive impact on the people.
She tasked the National Assembly to ensure adequate oversight and effective monitoring of all Ministries, Departments and Agencies that generate revenues to put to them on their toes to meet their respective targets.
Ekundayo also called for an overhaul of the public sector and build pragmatic checks and balances to address corruption and inefficiency.
