The Lagos State Government says it will collaboration with the Nigeria Institute of Management, NIM, in building and improving human capacity within the state civil service.

According to the government, Lagos is always opened for better things and will support, saying the collaboration must be better in terms of the quality of human capacity development and sharpening of staff to achieve a better result.

Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat gave the assurance when he received Management of Nigeria Institute of Management led by its Registrar, Taiwo Olusesi on a courtesy visit to his Office, Alausa, Ikeja.

Dr. Hamzat charged the institute with providing quality training for civil servants, stressing that the state has different ministries and agencies that require different skills.

He stated that such training cannot just be generic, it must be specific to the needs of the different Ministries, Agencies and Department so that our staff can benefit immensely”.

Hamzat urged the institute to research new ways of delivering the content of the curriculum to the staff as the government has been seeking ways to maximise the benefit derived from the different training allotted yearly.

He also tasked the institute to look at the needs of the different ministries and thereby customise their training curriculum to meet those needs.

While charging the management of the institute to ensure the curriculum is tailored for civil servants, the Deputy Governor said it must be designed for people.

Earlier in her remarks, the Registrar of the Nigerian Institute of Management, Taiwo Olusesi stated the institute seeks better collaboration and to be more involved in the activities of the state government.

The registrar also solicited the government to actively participate in their forthcoming conferences by sponsoring delegates and non-members of the institute to enhance capacity building across boards.
