President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to maintain faith in God and the country’s potential for peace, stability, and prosperity.

Tinubu who made the call in Lagos, emphasised the importance of unity and cooperation, urging citizens to set aside ethnic and religious rivalries.

He expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the nation’s well-being, praying for good health and prosperity for all Nigerians.

Tinubu highlighted the significance of collective sacrifices and reassured the population that Allah does not burden individuals with more than they can bear.

Encouraging faith in the nation’s ability to overcome challenges, he stressed the need for Nigerians to come together and contribute to its development.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to have faith in God that the country will experience peace, stability and prosperity, stressing the need for unity and cooperation, and appealing to Nigerians to eschew ethnic and religious rivalries.

According to him, Allah would not burden the country with what it cannot bear, saying no religious or ethnic identity should be allowed to deter Nigeria’s prosperity.

In his words, Allah cannot give anyone a burden they cannot carry, therefore all citizens must have faith in themselves and join hands towards effective nation building irrespective of tribal and religious differences.

He also prayed for the prosperity of the nation, those at the warfront and those who are sick and in the hospital.

The President also used the occasion to pray for Nigerian troops in the frontline in the fight against insurgency, saying it is his earnest desire and that of the nation that they emerge victorious.

The Eid prayer, led by the Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaiman Oluwatoyin Abu-Nolah, commenced at 9 a.m.
The Chief Imam also performed the ritual slaughtering of a ram, symbolising the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim to Allah’s command.

Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, extended greetings to Muslims across Nigeria and within the state, wishing them joy during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

He called for unity in supporting President Tinubu’s efforts to improve the nation, emphasising the need to pray for leaders and their success in their respective roles.

Hamzat reminded them of the essence of the celebration which is based on sacrifice, saying the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim to offer his only son to Allah.

For this reason, he said all Nigerians no matter their situations, must make sacrifices for the country even with the prevailing economic conditions.

He said like a bitter drug given to cure ailments, we must all endure the situation for a while. He encouraged all by saying, succor will come eventually.

While also enjoining Nigerians to pray for president Tinubu’s success, he said palliative measures especially with the liberalisation of diesel and kerosene, have been made to cushion the effects of the petrol subsidy removal.

The prayer was attended by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, former Governor of Lagos State and immediate past Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, among other notable government officials and top politicians.
