The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an extension of the deadline on the ongoing registration for candidates seeking Direct Entry (DE) admission into universities in the country.
Head of Public Affairs/Protocol of JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the Board is postponing the continuation of the DE registration, which was earlier scheduled to close 20th April, 2023, but was extended by one week.
According to the statement, the registration exercise would now continue 6th May, 2023, when the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the national census would have ended.
The board directed candidates desiring to register for the DE exercise to obtain their DE ePINs from designated vending outlets on or before 30th April, 2023, when ePIN vending would be closed.
The statement reads: “This development is to accommodate the conduct of the Board’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME) billed to start on Tuesday, 25th April, 2023, and end on Wednesday, 3rd May, 2023, while the National Census is scheduled to start on Wednesday, 3rd May, 2023, and end on Friday, 5th May, 2023.
“Candidates desiring to register for the DE exercise are, therefore, directed to ensure that they obtain their DE ePINs from designated vending outlets on or before 30th April, 2023, when ePIN vending would be closed. Candidates are then expected to proceed to the Board’s offices from Saturday, 6th May, 2023, to Saturday, 13th May, 2023, to complete their registration procedure.
“The Board assures all candidates desirous of DE registration that none would be denied the opportunity to register provided they comply with the Board’s directives and within the stipulated time frame.
“In the same vein, the Board solicits the understanding of candidates as it puts in place some innovative measures aimed at checking the incidence of falsification of results, data and other infractions.”
Ahead of April 25, 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed candidates sitting for the examination to proceed to print their notification slips from Thursday, 20th – 24th, April.
The Head, Public Affairs and Protocol, JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin, announced this in a statement on Friday in Abuja.
He said the notification slip would contain the examination centre of the candidate, time of examination, date of examination and other essential details necessary for taking part in the 2023 UTME, which commences from Tuesday, 25th April, 2023.
The statement reads: “All candidates taking the 2023 UTME are expected to print their examination notification slips on or before Monday, 24th April, 2023, by visiting https://www.jamb.gov.ng, click on “2023 UTME SLIP PRINTING” on the menu bar to know the time and venue of their examination.
“Candidates are to note that the information featured on the slip would enable them to easily locate their centres before the examination. Candidates are also enjoined to locate their centres before the day of their examination so as not to arrive late at the examination centre.”
The statement enjoined candidates to note the commencement time for their examination time as contained in their notification slips, saying this was sacrosanct.
“Candidates are also advised against going into the examination halls with prohibited items such as wristwatches, calculators, flash drives, phones, among others.
“The Board restates its zero tolerance for examination malpractice and urges candidates to refrain from any ignoble act or conduct during the examination,” the statement added.
