The new chairman of the Police Service Commission, PSC, Dr. Solomon Arase says the lingering face-off between the Ccommission and the Nigeria Police Force was due to a lack of communication.
According to Arase, the gap in communication brought about suspicion between the two bodies.
He spoke when the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Baba paid him a historic courtesy visit, with the aim of bringing to an end the age-long cold war.
Baba who was accompanied by the Management Team of the Force, immediately went into a closed-door meeting with the Chairman and members of the commission.
Arase was sworn in by President Muhammadu Buhari last Wednesday as the new chairman.
He took the oath of office at the council chamber before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council meeting, two months after the Senate confirmed him as chairperson of PSC.
The PSC boss assumed duty last Thursday with a promise to work closely with the Force in the interest of all as spelt out by the constitution.
