Two persons have been confirmed killed and many casualties were recorded when a moving train rammed into a BRT bus at the PWD bus stop in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.

On of the sympathisers claimed that the train was coming from Agege when it encountered a BRT vehicle that had employees of the Lagos government on board crossing the rail to connect Ikeja GRA.

The accident has caused a gridlock on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway from for motorists coming from Oshodi around Shogunle to Ikeja-Along.

First responders have since arrived the scene and rescue activities are currently ongoing.

Spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Taofiq Adebayo, who confirmed the sad incident said rescue operation was ongoing.
He said the bus was used to convey staff of the Lagos State Government when the accident happened.
Also, a spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency in Lagos, Ibrahim Farinloye said two adult females staff of the State Government died and several injured evacuated.
He said the State Government staff bus was trying to cross the PWD/Sogunle rail crossing while the train coming into Lagos from Abeokuta trapped the bus on its rail.
