The Lagos State Police Command says it has made tremendous achievements in the fight against criminals in the state.

The Police Command says it arrested several suspects, recovered stolen vehicles, arms and ammunition amongst others.

Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai who disclosed this at the Command’s headquarters during a news briefing said the achievements were made in the Month of September 2026.

CP Fatai said the Command remains steadfast and unwavering in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State through proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, strategic crime prevention initiatives, and swift responses to emerging security threats.

He revealed that in line with the mandate, the Command recorded notable operational successes within the month of September 2026, resulting in the arrest of criminal suspects involved in armed robbery, cultism, unlawful possession of firearms, and other violent crimes.

The Police Boss highlighted that the operations also led to the recovery of firearms, ammunition, stolen items, and other incriminating exhibits.

The achievements according to him, further demonstrated the Command’s determination to sustain public safety and ensure Lagos remains hostile to criminal elements.

He said within the period under review, the Command arrested 32 suspects, recovered 43 vehicles, 2 vehicle keys, vandalised electrical wires; N2.5 million cash.

Other recovery including, 5 pump-action guns, 5 locally made pistols, 20 live ammunition/cartridges, 15 expended ammunition , 2 cutlasses, assorted suspected criminal charms, 1 television set, 1 radiator, 1 One car jack13. A bag containing different vehicle spare parts and tools.

He also revealed that in the area of violent crime and murder, on September 26, 2026 at about 2.40pm, while on stop-and-search duty along Olugbede Street, Egbeda, Police officers signalled a Lexus ES 350, registration number FKJ 223 KX, driven by Olumide Olusola, male, 21 years, to stop.

CP Fatai said the driver initially stopped but suddenly sped off as Sergeant Johnson Okediji approached the driver’s side.
According to him, the officer was knocked down and dragged underneath the vehicle for several metres despite repeated attempts by police officers and passers-by to make the driver stop.

In his words, the driver was eventually chased and arrested, the officer sustained multiple fractures and serious head injuries.

He was taken to a nearby hospital and subsequently referred to LASUTH, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.

His remains have been deposited at Mainland Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the vehicle has been recovered to the station.

CP Fatai said in continuation of the Command’s enforcement efforts against vehicles with covered number plates and unregistered vehicles, operatives carried out an early-morning enforcement operation on Monday , September 28, 3026, during which over 41 vehicles were impounded for covered number plates, and non-vehicle registration.

He said further checks and enforcement actions are ongoing.
