The new Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Idowu Owohunwa has vowed not to tolerate any act of indiscipline under his watch.

Owohunwa advised all personnel of the command irrespective of ranks to embrace the tenets of self-discipline in the common good or be ready to for the consequences.

He gave the warning, just as he read the riot act on criminal elements that he will be hard on them.

Owohunwa gave the warning in his inaugural speech at the taking over ceremony at the Police Headquarters, Ikeja.

He stressed that his leadership will be founded firmly and strictly on discipline and professionalism, emphasising that an undisciplined officer is a threat not only to the policing family but to the community and the State he serves.

Owohunwa however, assured that any officer that discharge his or her duties within acceptable ethical and professional standards would earn his support while those who fall short shall be dealt with firmly.

His words, ” I promise that under my watch, I will be hard on deviants within the fold of the State Police Command who continually bring us into disrepute and pitch us against the citizens we are paid to serve and protect.

Such elements are encouraged to embrace the tenets of self-discipline in the common good or be ready to for the consequences. An undisciplined officer is a threat not only to the policing family but to the community and the State he serves.

On the criminal elements, he said, ” Aside this, Lagos State Police Command under my watch will be manifestly hard on criminals and their networks but civil with law abiding citizens and respectful of their rights”.

The Police Commissioner also said he would in due course initiate sets of Actions that will address issues impacting on seamless police-public trust and partnership .

” Details of this and the Broad Policing Action Plans for Lagos State will be shared with you. When this is done, my expectation will be for all of you to key into it and adapt your policing approach accordingly”, he stressed.
