The Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board, LASTVEB, today held orientation programme for about four thousand new entrants into the Technical Colleges in Lagos State.

The new students dubbed “Tech One Students” are to spend three years of vervent training in technical and vocational studies to acquire specific skills before certification for employment.

LASTVEB Executive Secretary, Moronke Azeez in her address, advises the students to continue to improve themselves technically, conduct research and engage in personal development to be skilled technician and middle-level manpower to meet the needs of Lagos and beyond.

Azeez mentioned that there are three broad categories of trades which students must choose from, which include Construction, Engineering, and Creative /Business Trades.
She mentioned that the three year programme will qualify the new students to write three different examinations with which to get certification and become self employed or seek further studies.
The executive secretary who spoke through Director, Curriculum and Examinations Department, Bunmi Bada congratulated the students for seizing the opportunity to learn new things in the state’s Technical Colleges.
Director of Counseling, Government Technical College, Agidingbi, Olubunmi Oladiran, in her words, admonished the new students to report any act of truancy or violations to the counseling Office for proper resolution.
She advises them to shun acts of truancy, absenteeism and disobedience to school authorities for them to have smooth programme in the school.
According to Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Muinat Adeleke-Asimi, the orientation programmes for all Technical Colleges in Lagos State hold simultaneously in the five Government Technical Colleges of Ikotun, Ikorodu, Agidingi, Epe, and Badagry.
