Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, popularly ķnown as KAI has reiterated its continuous commitment to achieve general cleanliness and encourage environmental consciousness among Lagosians in the State metropolis.

Its Corps Marshal, retired Commissioner of Police Gbemisola Akinpelu made the call at the Agency’s Command Headquarters, Bolade-Oshodi in Lagos.

According to her, “the Eid-l-Kabir holidays is here and enjoin Lagosians to celebrate peacefully, sort and recycle their waste for proper disposal by the State-approved PSPs as part of measures to be self-conscious about the cleanliness of their environment”.

Speaking further, Akinpelu cautioned Lagosians against dropping their refuse on the road sides, in the drains and gutters as it constitutes indiscriminate dumping of refuse which is punishable under the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law 2017.

Highlighting the impediment to vehicular and human movement which street trading and hawking causes in the State, the Corps Marshal affirmed that street trading remains banned in Lagos and admonished street traders to steer clear of the State.

She enjoined pedestrians in the State to consider their immediate safety by making appropriate use of strategically-erected pedestrian bridges across the State to avoid being knocked down by speeding motorists on major highways.

In her final remarks, the Corps Marshal revealed that LAGESC operatives will remain on duty during the Eid-el-Kabir holidays in a renewed bid to activate the Agency’s mandate of a Cleaner and Greener Lagos.
