As part of efforts to boost officers’ morale and ensure effective service delivery, the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, organised its yearly awards and recognition ceremony to reward outstanding officers of the Agency for last year at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Safety Arena, Bolade-Oshodi.

In her opening remarks, its Corps Marshal, Gbemisola Akinpelu said, “it is necessary to keep to the tradition of appreciating officers who have exceptionally distinguished themselves while performing their lawful duties.

She appreciated Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his unflinching zeal at achieving a cleaner and greener Lagos through LAGESC’s mandate.

In his speech, the Permanent Secretary, Gaji Omobolaji Tajudeen representing the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello said the awards is significant and we’re working on making it better where you can celebrate greatly with your families present to cheer you on”.

He appreciated the Corps Marshal for organising the award ceremony consecutively, highlighted its significance as a morale booster for officers of the Agency whilst commending corps officers for being dutiful as he promised increased cooperation and assistance for the Agency to operate better.

The Permanent Secretary and the Corps Marshal presented awards to various officers found worthy of recognition.

Ogunleye Kayode emerged as the Best Divisional Commander of the Year, Adeyoju Ruth as the Best Surveillance Officer of the Year and Obamila John as the Most Revenue Productive Officer of the Year for their outstanding contributions to the Agency.

Also, Onaselu Akinbiyi was awarded as the Best Dressed Officer of the Year, Senior, and Oloyede Oluwole as Best Dressed Officer of the Year, Junior, for their neatness while on official duty.

Ajibola Jimoh was awarded as the Most Outstanding Officer of the Year, Senior, Dosunmu Saheed as the Most Outstanding Officer of the Year, Junior, for their impressive efforts at ensuring productivity is achieved on duty while the Special Squad alongside its Heads received the award as the the Best Operational Team of the Year for performing excellently on a daily basis as the Agency’s tactical squad.

Responding on behalf of the awardees, Obamila John appreciated God, the Corps Marshal, her deputies and top management staff for affording them the opportunity to excel in their various capacities.

He promised renewed commitment on the part of awardees to serve better.

The Director of Administration and Human Resources of the Agency, Moses Oshungbuyi in his vote of thanks expressed profound appreciation to the Permanent Secretary for gracing the occasion and commended the Corps Marshal alongside her deputies for their support in organising the annual event.

The awards and recognition awards was attended by Heads of Units/Departments and all Divisional Commanders of the Agency.
