As part of concerted efforts towards achieving the THEMES agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and in a bid to eradicate environmental nuisances and miscreants around Oshodi market environs, joint teams of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, and the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit, Taskforce, embarked on an environmental clean up of market areas in Oshodi.
Corps Marshal of Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps, retired Commissioner of Police Akinpelu Gbemisola disclosure this at the Agency’s Command Headquarters at Bolade-Oshodi.
According to her, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu highlighted the deplorable filth at Oshodi with street traders converting lay-bys and walkways meant for pedestrians into markets and directed that a consolidate on the enforcement around the areas and clear all environmental infractions in conjunction with the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce)’’.
In the same vein, the Chairman, Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce), CSP Shola Jejeloye said today’s exercise will be a continuous one until marketers, traders comply with the State’s environmental laws 2017 and also reiterated that cleanliness leads to godliness.
The Corps Marshal implored marketers in Oshodi and Lagos in general to maintain orderliness and that lay-bys, walkways, pedestrian bridges is purely for pedestrians and not where to display their wares.
