Lagosians should ensure their immediate environment is clean during and after the yuletide season and obey all public health directives to reduce the spread of Covid-19 in Lagos State.
They were admonished to properly dispose their refuse and patronise approved PSP operators in the State.
The plea came from the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps, as part of its renewed commitment at ensuring Lagos and its environs is free from all environmental infractions.
Its Corps Marshal, Gbemisola Akinpelu asked street traders and hawkers to desist from trading on walkways, setbacks, medians, road verges as officers are strategically positioned across the State to stem the tide.
She advised hawkers especially, to stop displaying wares in transit to avoid being knocked down by ‘hit and run’ drivers on the State’s major highways.
Akinpelu highlighted the continuous need for pedestrians to make use of pedestrian bridges that are strategically built around major highways in the State.
She implored them to put safety first and not endanger their lives by crossing the highways.
Akinpelu emphasised on the need for Lagosians to be security-conscious in the yuletide season and report to the appropriate security agencies when they suspect anything unusual around them.
The Corps Marshal disclosed that all the Divisional Commanders have been directed to ensure officers and personnel at their various beats remain at their duty post through the yuletide season to abate all environmental nuisances.
