Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one thousand four hundred and fifty-eight suspected criminals between May and July at different locations in the State.
They also recovered large arms and ammunition from the suspects.
Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu while parading the suspects before newsmen, stated that the criminals included: armed robbers, cult members, murderers suspected kidnappers and traffic robbers.
He also said a policeman was killed during on of the gun battles between police operatives and men of the underworld in the state.
Odumosu used the opportunity to tell residents of the state,who are in possession of illegal arms to submit them to the police or be ready to fa e the full wrath of the law if there caught in the ongoing arms and ammunition mop up exercise in the state.
According to him, the paraded suspects also included one thousand three hundred and twenty suspected criminals who were arrested during raids on suspected black spots in the state on Monday.
He said the command arrested sixty-six armed robbers between May and July thirty-six of them were arrested in May, eighteen in June and twelve already arrested in July.
According to him, a total of one hundred and ten arms and one hundred and twenty-five ammunition were recovered in different parts of the state.
CP Odumosu also told newsmen that seventy-two suspected cultsts, including those who were arrested at the annual 7/7 celebrations by cult groups were arrested during the period under review.
, thirty of the suspected cultists were arrested in May, twenty in June and twenty-two already arrested in July.
He warned landlords, house agents and owners of event centres hotels and bar to properly profile the people, whom they rent their houses, bars and other places to as they also stand to be arrested and prosecuted under the new Lagos State Law on cultism.
In his words, four armed robbers and a policeman died during shootout between armed robbers and security operatives in the state.
He also the command succeeded in foiling forty-six robbery attempts in different parts of the state and recorded forty- seven murder cases.
The Police Chief said the suspects would be properly investigated and charged to court.
