Lagos State judicial panel on restitution for victims of SARS related abuses and other matters sitting in Lagos today adjourned ruling on the petition of Mr. Phillip Enwerem and Mr. Benjamin Nwabuzor vs federal special anti robbery squad (FSARS) on the grounds that the petition has been tried and concluded in a regular court which makes it impossible for the panel to retry the case.
The panel then informed the parties after it was inundated with the charge sheet of the case as well as the judgement of the National Human Rights Commission panel judgement on the case as ordered by the petitioner counsel and corroborated by the respondent.
Consequently, the panel deferred it’s decision on the petition just like other petitions with judgement pending the panel decision on them of which the date will be comunicated to parties and urged them to be ready to abide with it.
The panel also took on 5 other petitions of the day and listened to submissions and testimonies from counsels and witnesses in which decisions of the panel was delivered on them, while some of the petitions had the petitioners and respondents closing their case and the panel adjourned for adoption of written address, others were adjourned for further hearing.
The panel sitting continues tomorrow Saturday 8th May, 2021 in Lagos.
