Military Police and Paramilitary Public Relations Officers’ Forum ( MILPOPPROF ) MILPOPPROF held its monthly general meeting at the Nigeria Immigration Passport Office in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Public Relations Officers of various Security Agencies were also present at the meeting.

The meeting commenced with the second stanza, of the National Anthem.

Also the Chief Facilitator, Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, PRO FRSC, welcomed and thanked the host, comptroller of Immigration service, MMA command CIS AA Dalhatu ably represented by Assistant Comptroller of Immigration ( ACI ) Abdullahi Abdulkarim.

The Chief Facilitator, charged all members, to be dedicated to the core values of MILPOPPROF, which include: peace, synergy, inter – agency collaboration and peaceful coexistence amongst all Security Agencies.

She also affirmed that the Forum should be problem solving and members should be ready to support one another at all times.

In addition, the able representative of the Comptroller of Immigration MMA command, Assistant Comptroller of Immigration (ACI) Abdullahi Abdulkarim, in his welcome address, said the Forum is a great gathering that can be used to achieve vehement sensitisation and collaboration among Security Agencies and find lasting solutions to the insecurity challenges, in the country.

He said that the Forum will aid cross-fertilization of ideas and information that can be used to fight insecurity.

He also informed the Forum of the Information – Technology Centre created, by the Nigeria Immigration Service, located at the NIS Headquarters, in Abuja, to aid all Security Agencies to receiving essential security information from other Departments or one another.

He charged each member, to see the sky, as the starting point and not the end, also adviced that all members should ensure quality and relevant representation of their various services or Agencies.

The Chairman Board of Trustee Peace and Conflict Resolution Centre ( PEAcrEc ), Col. Kingsley Umoh also gave his remarks, via a phone conversation.

He charged the members, to brace up and make a difference in their time as Public Relations Officers of various Security Agencies and Services.

He posited that the members can do a lot in the bid to achieve peace, therefore they should begin to use other means available in their tool boxes, such as human relations, information and intelligence gathering, amidst others to achieve the needed results and not only relying on writing Press Statements.

The Matters Arising included :

  1. Membership of Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR)
  2. Seminars and Symposia
  3. Funding and
  4. Courtesy visits.

Furthermore, the members ( PROs) who participated in the meeting, were RC Olabisi Sonusi ( FRSC), SI Louisa Barigboma Amadiokoro ( NIS), Mrs Odetola Funmi PEAcrEc ( Project Coordinator MILPOPPROF), ASCI Abolurin Oluwaseun O. ( NSCDC ), Filade Olumide ( LASTMA), DSI Sheyindemi Adetoun ( NIS), ASI A Lomu ( NIS), Blessing Job ( NDLEA), Aguiyi Henry Moses ( NDLEA), DSF ADEKEMI Adebiyi ( FFS), DSI Yakubu Yarus ( NIS), INSP. Akpan Peter ( NSCDC).

Finally, the meeting was adjourned, by DSF Adebiyi Adekemi and seconded by Mr Filade. Thereafter, the meeting came to a halt, with the national prayer, at about 13:20hrs.
