The Mega Terminal in Felele, Lokoja the Kogi State Capital commence operation on Thursday, 15th April, 2021.

The terminal was constructed and inaugurated by the administration of Governor Idris Wada on the 6th of January, 2016 but yet to commence operation in full.

Commissioner for Transportation, Joseph Okwoli stated this at a briefing after the Committee handling the opening of the Mega Terminal conducted Newsmen round facilities at the terminal.

According to him, the opening of the Mega Terminal was aimed at decongesting the ever busy NATACO road and the area surrounding the international market in Lokoja.

He noted that a market had been opened within the terminal for food sellers and other vendors while a 33KVA transformer was installed to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

The Commissioner for Transportation announced that the state transport service, Confluence Express would be revived for operation with about 50 buses soon.

Also speaking, Special Adviser on Security to the Governor, retired Commander Jerry Omodara pointed out that all security arrangements had been concluded with a Police outpost, personnel of FRSC and the Fire Service with CCTV cameras already in place to ensure all round surveillance of activities at the terminal.

A joint taskforce he said would enforce strict compliance by commuters, drivers and other road users who may violate the directive to leave the highway.

Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Investment, Gabriel Olofu on his part explained that traders in need of assistance would be supported by the ministry with soft loans to enhance their businesses.

In the meantime, Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo assured people of the state, commuters and transport operators that the facilities put in place at the terminal would ensure comfort and safety.

He reiterated that the Bello administration intends to galvanise the benefits of the terminal in the transport sector.
