In line with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ statutory functions and mandates, the Lagos State Command has bursted a syndicate, of oil pipeline vandals, in the Baruwa area, of Alimosho Local Government, in Lagos State.

The vandals vandalised the NNPC pipeline, in the area and purported, to escape, with full load, of tanker containing 60,000 litres worth, of Premium Motor Spirit ( PMS), also known as petrol.

Its Commandant, Commandant Paul Ayeni upon receiving a signal, via the Command’s. Community Based Intelligence Network, about the criminal activities, of vandals, at the Baruwa area of Alimosho Local Government, ordered the Head of the Anti- Vandal Unit on patrol, on the right of away, to swing into action, in a bid, to avert the unimaginable evil that may be perpetrated by these criminal elements.
To further daze the vandals with more damage during the operation, without any form of escape, the Armed Squad Commander, of the Command and the Divisional Officer, Alimosho Division were ordered to provide back up, for the operatives already at the scene.
However, the men of the command were attacked, by hoodlums, in the line of duty, but the combined efforts of the Command’s team overpowered and smashed the vandals at the scene.
It is pertinent, to state here that the vehement ressillience and galantry, put up, by the personnels of the Lagos Command, against the vandals led, to the arrest of 2 of the vandals (m), a tanker ( Mack) fully loaded, with 60,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit ( PMS).
In addition, however, some of the vandals fled and took to their heels, at the instance of the combatant and galant show down of the Command’s Combined Team.
Finally, the tanker containing the 60,000 litres of ( PMS – petrol) and the 2 vandals have been brought to the Lagos State Command, headquarters.
Further investigation has also been instituted, over the illicit act perpetrated, by these vandals, in order, to get to the root of the matter.
The NNPC authorities, in Lagos has also been informed, about the dastard act of the vandals, in the area and repair works was commenced, by them immediately, upon receiving the information, from the Command.
The Commandant said the escaped vandals will not be spared as the Command will ensure they are brought to book.
He appeals, to Lagosians, to remain vigilant and very supportive, to the course, of ensuring maximum security of lives and property as well as all critical national assets and infrastructure, in Lagos State.
That is they should be ready, to partner with the Lagos State Command, of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, in releasing very salient and relevant security information, instantly, so that oil theft, pipeline vandalism and any other form of economic sabotage will can be totally eradicated, in Lagos State.
In line with the Commandant General’s goals and aspirations, Commandant Ayeni warned vandals to desist from the act as is a sabotage against the nation’s economy and security, amidst others.
He avows his dedication and commitment, to fulfill the corps’ statutory functions and mandates, in Lagos State , under his watch as Commandant Lagos State Command.
He affirms that the criminal elements could no longer have a free day, with their dastard acts anymore.
