Lagos State High Court, Ikeja sentenced three robbers, Sheriff Emiloju; Aanu Moses and Farouq Atolagbe to twenty-one years imprisonment for Armed Robbery in Lagos.
Hon. Justice Nicol- Clay ( Court 7) on 29th March, 2021 delivered a judgement in suit no LD/6031C/17 between the State of Lagos vs Sheriff Emiloju; Aanu Moses and Farouq Atolagbe.
The three robbers were earlier arraigned by the Directorate of Public Prosecution on behalf of Lagos State Government on a Four-count charge dated 1st of April, 2017.
According to Director, Public Prosecution, Olayinka Adeyemi ,the trio whilst armed with bottles robbed Abass Bashiru and Olayinka Houka of their Blackberry Passport Phone, Blackberry Q10 worth # 120,000; wallet containing #2,000 and Prayer Cloth (Jalabia).
Adeyemi added, the robbers while armed with bottles also robbed one Adewunmi Ogunleye of her bag containing #190,000, Photocopy and Original of her Vehicle document, One Gtbank ATM Card, Voters Card and Samsung phone valued 60,000, Phone charger and Power Bank.
She said the Prosecution urged the court to sentence the defendants accordingly having proved beyond reasonable doubt all the charges against them.
“The Prosecution presented 3 witnesses and 5 exhibits before the court which confirmed the allegations of the crime levied against Sherrif, Aanu and Farouq” Adeyemi noted.
Justice Nicol-Clay found the three robbers guilty of the charges and purnishable under section 299 & 297 (2)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
” You are hereby sentenced to 21years imprisonment on the Counts of Conspiracy to Commit robbery and Robbery” Justice Nicol-Clay ruled.
