Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa has met with NDLEA Celebrity Drug Free Club members.

He met with creative industry bigwigs under the auspices of NDLEA Celebrity Drug-Free Club (NCDFC) to discuss with them how to address the menace of drug abuse among students and youths across Nigeria.

Marwa promised to incorporate the ideas of NCDFC into its programmes, stressing that the endemic nature of the menace in recent times demands a combined force to nip it in the bud.

He declared that it is practically impossible for NDLEA to shoulder the campaign alone without involving relevant stakeholders like creative industry personalities.

In his words “Drug abuse is a reality that lives with us now, as much as we are making efforts as a NDLEA to change the narratives through adequate awareness programmes, yet we can’t do it alone, this is why the concern shown by NCDFC is quite noble and must be commended”.

However, NCDFC members to use their influence as role models and opinion influencers among the youth population to help re-direct the minds of the youth to a more noble and profitable path.

“We know that the fight is huge and must be collectively fought using multi-dimensional mass awareness campaigns because the affected persons are our future leaders and as such we all should show concern”.

The national coordinator of NDLEA Celebrity Drug Free Club, Wilson Ighodalo who also double as NDLEA Special Purpose Committee member promised the NDLEA Chairman, that NCDFC will change the narratives through adequate awareness programmes.
He says the NDLEA Celebrity Drug Free Club will do more tackling the menace headlong through youth engagements, empowerment and coping skills to address youth restiveness and aggressive behaviour.
NCDFC members congratulate the Chairman with a plague for Championing Best Approaches In Drug Control.
