The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Lagos Sector Command has concluded its Operation Zero tolerance end of the year special patrol which kicked off from December fifteen, and ended January fifteen.

According to the Command, the Special patrol covered Lagos- Ibadan, Lekki – Epe and Lagos – Badagry expressways.

Its Sector Commander, Olusegun Ogungbemide, says the command recorded a huge success although some offences were still prevailing and such is not encouraged as long as the Corps is working hard to reduce the rate of Road Traffic Crashes, RTC, and also reduce fatalities on the highway.

The patrol according to him, led to the arrest of a total of three thousand one hundred and eighty-seven offenders with three thousand seven hundred and eight offences, one thousand four hundred and thirty vehicles were impounded and one thousand seven hundred and fifty-seven confiscations.

In the cause of the patrol, he said a total forty-six Road traffic crashes was recorded with five of it been fatal.

In his words, the prevailing offences during the patrol includes: 505 Tyre violation, 609 Seat belt violation, 513 failure to install Speed limit Device and 608 Light sign violation.

The Sector Commander commended the officers and men for their steadfastness and commitment during the end of the year patrol.

He therefore encouraged the men to be more dedicated to their service in the New Year to ensure the Corps 2021 Corporate strategic goal is achieved.

Ogungbemide further stated that the Command is set to reduce traffic offenders to keep the highways safe for the innocent motoring public.

He also advised commercial fleet operators to Install Speed Limiting Device in their vehicles.
