Police operatives in Ajah area of Lagos State have impounded two bullion vans loaded with cash.
They were impounded on the orders of the Area Commander, Gbolahan Olugbemi, an Assistant Commissioner of Police.
This is coming barely few days after the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu met with bankers over security issues.
The bullion vans belonging to Bankers Warehouse were impounded for alleged breach of security.
According to the police, recently banks and their subsidiaries had jettisoned the standard approved species escort procedure which had in a number of times caused a security breach.
The police had earlier warned that bullion vans would be impounded in Lagos if they violate approved standard species escort procedure which includes an escort vehicle in front and at the back of the bullion van with a minimum of four mobile policemen in each vehicle.
According to the police, the bullion vans were without escort vehicles when they were impounded.
Armed robbers recently attacked a bullion van in Ajah killing two victims.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) Hakeem Odumosu had reportedly met with the management of Banks and their subsidiaries on January 1, this year, during which ACP Olugbemi allegedly vowed to arrest any violator of police order and directives.
