Katsina State Police Command, says it recorded achievement on the ongoing onslaught against banditry, armed robbery, cattle rustling, kidnapping and other forms of crime and criminality in the state.
According to the command, during the period under review it has carried out various sting operations in several locations within the frontline local government areas, busted and arrested many suspected bandits terrorising Katsina state.
Police Commissioner, Sanusi Buba speaking at a news briefing said the Command arrested over fifty suspected bandits/kidnappers/armed robbers/cattle rustlers, recovered ten (9) AK 47 rifles, twenty(20) locally made guns, two (2) motor vehicles, twenty (20) motor cycles, two hundred and twenty (220) rustled cows, and money the sum of six hundred and eighty-five thousand naira (N6,85,000:00K).
Buba says the Command also killed fifteen (15) bandits and rescued twenty (20) kidnapped victims in the ongoing war against all forms of crime and criminality in the state.
He says on the fight against the menace of Rape bedevilling the state, a total of one hundred and forty (140) suspected rapists were arrested in eighty-seven (87) reported cases and all were charged to court for prosecution.
The Police Boss says the Command is synergising with traditional and religious leaders and other relevant stakeholders including parents to ensure the menace is brought to the barest minimum.
ARREST/BUSTING OF NOTORIOUS SYNDICATES OF BANDITS/ KIDNAPPERS/CATTLE RUSTLERS/ARMED ROBBERS:
On 20/08/2020 at about 1300hrs, based on a tip off, the command succeeded in arresting one Abdullahi Sani, ‘m’, aged 30yrs of Dungu – Yankara village, Faskari LGA of Katsina state a member of a notorious Camp of Adamu Aleiro Na-Yankuzu, terrorizing Faskari, Sabuwa, Dandume, Kankara and Funtua LGAs of Katsina state. In the course of investigation suspect confessed to be a member of the said syndicate who has taken part in many attacks on Katsina state communities which include among others Kadisau village – Faskari LGA, Yardoka village, Dandume and Kankara LGAs where they robbed, Killed, Kidnapped and rustled domestic animals of innocent citizens. You will recall that Adamu Alieru Na-Yankuzo has been declared wanted by the Command for various crimes against humanity in the state. Investigation is ongoing.
On 01/09/2020 at about 13:00hrs, based on credible intelligence, the Command carried out a sting operation at various locations in Safana LGA of Katsina state and succeeded in smashing the camp of notorious bandits, armed robbers, kidnappers and cattle rustlers led by one Tukur Adamu, ‘M’, alias “JAMAI TIGER” aged 48yrs of Illella Forest, Safana LGA, of Katsina state, including his biological son and others that he recruited into the world of banditry, terrorizing Safana, Batsari, and Danmusa LGAs of Katsina state. In the course of investigation suspects confessed to have masterminded several attacks on villages in Safana, Batsari, Danmusa and Dutsinma. Suspects confessed to be in possession of dangerous weapons including AK 47 rifles. They also confessed to have killed several people during their attacks. Similarly the Command succeeded in arresting another bandits’ gang leader, Rabe Abdullahi, alias “DOGO RABE”, aged 30yrs of Kanbiri village, Safana LGA was arrested with his cohorts as follows:

On 23/08/2020, at about 1400hrs, based on credible intelligence, the command succeeded in arresting the duo of (1) Nasiru Yahaya, alias, “Buzu”, ‘m’, aged 22yrs and (2) Shehu Adamu, alias, Juli, ‘m’, aged 36yrs, all of Illelah forest of Safana LGA of Katsina state. In the course of investigation suspects confessed to belong to the camp of one Sale Turwa, a kingpin of notorious bandits, armed robbers, kidnappers and cattle rustlers terrorizing Safana and Batsari LGAs of Katsina state. They also confessed to have in their possession three AK47 rifles which investigation is ongoing with a view to recover it and other incriminating exhibits.
On 09/08/2020, one Haruna Muhammad Alaramma, ‘m’, of Jumawa village in Matazu LGA of Katsina state reported that on same date at about 0800hrs, he received a Phone call from GSM No. 08112457461 threatening to kidnap or kill his family if he failed to pay the sum of #1,000,000:00k. Based on that, the command’s SARS in collaboration with vigilante group laid an ambush at Tsabe Bush in Kurba Village, in Kankara LGA, where the complainant was instructed to drop the money. One Nasiru Ahmed, ‘m’, aged 28yrs of Kurba village of Kankara LGA was arrested while trying to pick the ransom. Suspect confessed to have conspired with one Dahiru Munaringe of same address, now at large, in committing the offence.

On 25/07/2020, at about 10:00hrs, one Ibrahim Sani, ‘m’, of Mai’iyali village in Faskari LGA reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Faskari, that on 12/07/2020 at about 23:00hrs Bandits numbering about Six armed with AK-47 rifles invaded his house, shot sporadically in the air and rustled 39 Cows and 4 Sheep. In the course of investigation, one Kabiru Usman, m, aged 20yrs of Ruwan Godiya village, Faskari LGA of Katsina state was arrested in connection with the offence and confessed to have conspired with three others namely: Ibrahim Garba, m, aged 21yrs of Ruwan Godiya, Faskari LGA of Katsina state, 2. Muhammad Dikko, m, aged 39yrs of Ningi LGA of Bauchi state, 3. Yahaya Alhaji Risku (at Large) and Haruna Isah, (at large), to commit the offence. Sixteen out of the stolen cows were recovered and handed over to the complainant.
Investigation is ongoing to recover their operational firearms and arrest other members of the syndicate.
On 20/07/2020, at about 0800hrs, the following people (1) Yunusa Ismail, ‘m’ of Dutsinma and (2) Nura Dalha, ‘m’ of Unguwar Barde Safana LGA of Katsina state reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters Kafur, that on 19/07/2020 at about 0200hrs while on their way along Zaria Malumfashi road on reaching a point after Gidan Kawo village, Kafur LGA, Gunmen in Army Uniform, armed with AK-47 Rifles blocked the highway and robbed them of a motor vehicle Golf Reg. No. KWL 75 RB, Black in colour and made away with it. In the course of investigation, one Abdulkarim Adamu, ‘m’, of Kurna, Kano State was arrested in connection with the offence.
Upon interrogation, he confessed to have conspired with the following (1) Liti (2) Sule and (3) Kaura Isa all of Kafur LGA now at large, to commit the offence. The motor vehicle with one GSM Handset was recovered in his possession.
Investigation is ongoing to recover their operational firearms and arrest other members of the syndicate.
On 26/07/2020, at about 2300hrs, distress call was received at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Kafur, that a gang of armed robbers numbering about five, armed with cutlass, sticks and other dangerous weapons attacked one Abba Amadu, ‘m’, of unguwar madugu village and robbed him of his motorcycle, Bajaj Boxer unregistered, valued #270,000:OOK and ran away to unknown destination. In the course of investigation, three suspects were arrested in connection with the offence namely (1) Umar Sani, alias, teacher, ‘m’, aged 65yrs of Unguwar Jalatu in Bakori LGA (2) Yalli Suleiman, ‘m’, aged 35yrs and (3) Inusa Hussaini, ‘m’, aged 30yrs, all of Yari Bori village in kafur LGA. The motorcycle was recovered in their possession and released to the complainant.
Investigation is ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate.
On 23/08/2020 at about 1400hrs, based on credible intelligence, the command succeeded in arresting the duo of (1) Nasiru Yahaya, alias Bugu, ‘m’, aged 22yrs and (2) Shehu Adamu alias Juli, ‘m’, aged 36yrs all of Illelah forest in Safana LGA. Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to be members of the gang of Armed Bandits headed by one Sale Turwa now at large. The suspects further confessed to have participated in series of Armed Robbery, cattle rustling and kidnapping within Safana and Batsari LGAs.

On 27/08/2020, at about 18:00hrs, one Ramatu Adamu ‘f’, of Makera village in Kankara LGA, reported at Malumfashi Area Command, that on 11/8/2020, at about 1000hrs, she sent her son Shaiabu Adamu Maikanwa, ‘m’, aged 20yrs of same address with ten bags of maize to sell at Kankara market, and on his way back home, unknown persons attacked, killed and dumped his corpse in a bush. In the course of investigation, one Hassan Ayuba alias Kwarwa ‘m’, aged 40yrs of Katsinawa village in Kankara LGA was arrested in connection with the offence. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to have conspired with the following: Nura commando, Andana Gundawa, Alh. Kabiru alias, Ketare, Muhammadu Yaron Rabe, Nazibu, Boto Yaron Aminu Koshe, Aminu Hamisu Kanen Maikwalli, Babangida Marmara Zayyanu Gidan Godo, Muddaha Gidan Chindo, Murtala Kurba and Iliya Danmitsi Gobarawa all members of vigilante group of Kankara LGA now at large, attacked and robbed the deceased of his motorcycle, one GSM Handset, and money the sum of #185,000:00k. One Lawal Muntari ‘m’, aged 40yrs of Sabon Gida village in Kankara LGA, the principal receiver of the robbed motorcycle was equally arrested.
Investigation is ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate.
On 22/08/2020, at about 1430hrs, based on credible intelligence, the command succeeded in arresting the duo of (1) Jamilu Mamman ‘m’, aged 30yrs and (2) Yunusa Umar ‘m’, aged 40yrs both of kanawa and katsalle villages of Danmusa LGA of Katsina. In the course of investigation, the said jamilu mamman confessed to have conspired with the following: (1) ummaru Dogo, (2) Isah kudi, (3) Barumaye and (4) Tasi’u Wainde all Fulani Bandits at Yantumaki forest now at large, and went to the house of one Alh. Mannir katsalle and kidnapped a woman by name Yargogo, the sum of #50,000:00K was given to him as his own share of the ransom.
He further confessed to have took part in the kidnap of one shafa’atu Zayyanu at the said katsalle village, after the ransom was paid, he was given the sum of #50,000:00k as his own share. Investigation is ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate.
On 27/08/2020, at about 1700hrs the command succeeded in arresting the following:
Abubakar Habibu ‘m’, aged 30yrs,
Babangida Yahaya ‘m’ aged 30yrs,
Abubakar Ibrahim Fulani ‘m’, aged 20yrs,
Abubakar Ashiru alias Abu tsirya ‘m’ aged 30yrs,
Ibrahim Jibiro ‘m’, aged 20yrs,
Labaran Sule ‘m’, aged 25yrs all of various addresses in Dutsin-Ma LGA.
In the course of investigation suspects confessed to belong to gang of bandits terrorizing Dutsin-ma, Kurfi, Safana, Kankara and Danmusa LGAs of Katsina state. The following exhibits were recovered from them during search:
(1) One motorcycle Bajaj chasis No. HWJ68007,
(2) Butt of AK47 rifle,
(3) Three tecno handsets,
(4) Three pilgrimage passports,
(5) Criminal charms and
(6) Money sum of #390,500:00k. Investigation is ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate.
On 29/08/2020, at about 1800hrs, based on a tip off, the command succeeded in arresting one Yusuf Umar alias Doctor ‘m’ aged 47yrs of Jabiri Quarters, Funtua LGA of Katsina state, a notorious member of armed robbery syndicate terrorizing Matazu, Musawa, Kankara and Mulunfashi LGAs of the state. In the course of investigation, he confessed to be a member of armed robbers who operate along Zaria-Kaduna express way. The sum of N290,000:00k was recovered in his possession, suspect further confessed to have been arrested by SARS Katsina command and charged to court in a similar case of armed robbery, but recently released from Katsina correctional centre due to covid-19 decongestion.
On 01/09/2020, at about 1337hrs, following a tip off, the command SARS swang into action and arrested one Isah Ahmad ‘m’, aged 38yrs of Yobe State who was seen wandering around the premises of Zanith Bank in a suspicious manner. Upon interrogation, he confessed to be in company of one Muhammed Sanusi ‘m’ now at large and their mission was to trace and chased any customer that withdraw huge amount of money from the bank to a point where they will have the oppurtunity to steal the money. Investigation is ongoing to track and arrest other members of the syndicate.
On 27/08/2020 at about 20:00hrs, one Jamilu Abdullahi, m, of Kongolom village, Mai’addua LGA of Katsina state reported on the same date at about 19:21hrs, he received a phone call that his son Sultan Jamilu, ‘M’, aged 4yrs was kidnapped by the caller. In the course of investigation, one Bashar Lawal, m, aged 14yrs of the same address and errand boy to the complainant was arrested and confessed to have conspired with one Abu Karami, m, of Koza village, Mai’addua LGA of Katsina state (now at large) and gave the custody of the victim in the hands of one Zakkiya Mamman, f, aged 14yrs for safe keeping and misled her into believing that the victim’s parents have travelled thereby soliciting for assistance to take care of the boy pending their return.
BUSTING OF NOTORIOUS SYNDICATE OF FRAUDSTERS On 22/08/2020 at about 16:30hrs, the following persons 1. Bala Ibrahim, m, 2. Muhammed Sani, m, all of Kwado Quarters, Katsina jointly reported at Sabon Gari Police station, Katsina, that sometimes in the months of May to July, 2020, the following suspects (1) Suleiman Mohammed, m, aged 35yrs of Filin Polo Quarters, Katsina, (2) Ibrahim Bashir, m, aged 24yrs of Babbar Ruga village, Batagarawa LGA of Katsina state, (3) Jamilu Sani, m, aged 30yrs of Daki Tara Quarters, Katsina and others now at large criminally conspired and collected the sum of one Million, one hundred and fifty thousand Naira (1, 150,000:00K) from them under false pretence that they will do anything spiritually to bring market into their business, but later discovered that the said suspects are nothing but dupes. In the course of investigation suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and claimed to have collected only the sum of seventy thousand naira (70,0000;00K) from the victims. The following items were also recovered in their possessions during search: 1. One empty Iron box 2. Some spiritual perfumes 3. Two local mats and 4. Packet of Air freshener. Investigation is ongoing.
