Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad has advised the substantive President for the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem to use her wealth of experience to discharge her duties effectively and efficiently in the appellate court.

He stated this at a swearing-in ceremony of the President of the appellate court in Abuja.

The CJN who said the appellate court had the largest number of Justices in the country, challenged Justice Dongban-Mensem to live up to expectations by maintaining cordial relationship with her colleagues on the bench.

Justice Muhammad further tasked the new president of the appellate court to continue with her good character and hardwork to achieve greater heights.

In her remark, Justice Dongban-Mensem said she felt honoured and challenged to be appointed into the office of the President of the Court of Appeal, based on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council and the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari.

She assured Nigerians that she would do her best in ensuring that Justice was applied at the appellate court and would further build on the legacy left behind by her predecessors.

In a goodwill message, the Governor of Plateau state, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal and the governor Sokoto State, Mr. Simon Lalong described the appointment of Justice Dongban-Mensem as well deserved.

Justice Dongban-Mensem transferred her service to the Federal Capital Territory Judiciary in 1997, where she served until she was elevated to the Court of Appeal in 2003.

Until her recent elevation, Justice Dongban-Mensem was the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, and Life Member of Body of Benchers.
