Men of the Nigeria Police should show professionalism in the discharge of their duties wherever they find themselves in the country.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State gave the charge at the commissioning of the Area ‘L’ Police Command Ilashe, Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged them to conduct themselves with decorum, and not to use their office in any way to intimidate residents of the Ilashe community.
While tasking the police on the need to ensure a cordial and productive relationship with government, Sanwo-Olu advised police officers to show members of the community where the operate that police was truly their friend.
He said his administration was committed to building security infrastructure as part of its THEMES agenda which is Traffic Management and Transportation; Health and Environment; Education and Technology; Making Lagos a twenty-first Century state.
Sanwo-Olu said the edifice would be a testimonial for all, while promising that government would embarked on its overall maintenance for the next two years.
He said Lagos now had eighteen police commands, commending the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, for given the state Security special status and Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu for being proactive.
Speaking earlier, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo assured residents that the Security infrastructural map of the state would be far better at the end of the administration.
Also at the event, the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, who thanked the governor for the gesture, said the police was committed to ensuring the security of lives and property in line with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s dream of repositioning Lagos as one of the most secured megacities of the world.
He assured residents of Ilashe community that the police command was ready to sustain onslaught against criminals and criminalities in the state.
