Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has ordered for effective deployment of personnel to all nooks and crannies for the Christmas celebration across the nation.
Commandant General, Abdullahi Muhammadu, made this known, while felicitating with the Christian faithful on the birth of Christ and urged them to live exemplary life preached by Christ as epitomised by His birth.
Muhammadu reiterated that Christmas period as observed by Christians, was a time meant for commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, alms-giving, reconciliation, tolerance and making peace with one another in ensuring lasting peace and harmony in the society.
He said Christmas festivity should not be seen as a time of merriment and fun fare alone but should be seen as a time of tolerating one another irrespective of the religious differences.
However, apart from the deployment of general duty personnel, sniffer dogs, specialised units, such as CBRN, Special Force, SWAT, Counter Terrorism, Ambulances, Surveillance team are to be deployed to strategic areas; he charged the personnel to ensure the protection of Critical Infrastructure within their localities against vandals and enemies of the nation.
For the purpose of effective and efficient deployment, the Corps Chief Executive has recalled all the senior officers on leave and pass to report for duties and also directed the Zonal Commanders and State Commandants to ensure there was no hitches during the festive period and beyond.
He advised there should be a water tight security arrangement in and around their localities most especially around Churches, recreation centres, malls, shopping centres among others and stationing of ambulances at the high ways, Airports and other designated areas for quick and timely response to emergency situations and positioning of Mobile Surveillance Vehicles to monitor movement of those with sinister motives in order to clamp down on them.
He urged personnel to work in synergy with other sister agencies as the Corps will not tolerate any form of sabotage and crisis between the Corps personnel and other sister agencies over issues that could be avoided.
He stressed that partnership and collaboration is very pertinent as all agencies are working towards a single goal of protecting the society against insecurity.
He advised parents to warn their wards to desist from any act that is inimical to the society, especially as vandals and saboteurs capitalised on festive periods to carry out their nefarious act.
