Nigerian Air Force (NAF), has graduated 256 officers and airmen on various courses including special investigation and policing.
The participants took part in 11 sundry courses at the Military Training Centre (MTC), and Air Police Training Centre (APTC) in Kaduna.
The courses included Intergrated Basic Clerical Course 37/2019, Advanced Physical Education Course 12/2019, Basic Military Band Course 11/2019, Air Police Basic Officers Course 3/2019 and, Air Police Special Investigation Course 23/2019 among others.
Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, said the training was to reposition the NAF into a highly professional and disciplined force through capacity building initiatives.
Abubakar, who was represented by AVM Kingsley Lar, Chief of Administration of NAF, said the courses were also for effective, efficient and timely employment of air power in response to Nigerian security barricades.
“The idea of the MTC and APTC which are under the ground training command is to be able to train personnels that are recruited to be specialists in certain areas of NAF like music, physical training, air provost, administration among others.”
He added that the skills which they acquired, both basic and advance, would help them perform their duties professionally.
He charged them to uphold high level of discipline, commitment to duty, loyalty and desist from being used as tools for destabilizing the peace and security of the nation.
Earlier, the Commandant of MTC/APTC, Air Commodore Abdullahi Bello, said that out of 277 students who reported for the courses, only 256 were able to graduate.
He said the MTC and APTC run only two categories of sundry courses which are basic and upgrading courses.
“The objective of the basic courses it to inculcate in officers, airmen and women of the non-technical ground specialities, the skills and requisite knowledge for performance at optimal levels in all assigned tasks”, he said.
The Commandant charged the participants to make use of the knowledge acquired positively to meet the service tested values of discipline, integrity and hard work
Bello also called on them to gain the confidence of their commanders by being honest and reliable to drive their units’ to lofty heights.
He commended the Chief of Air Staff for his visionary leadership and dedication to capacity building and continuous support to ground training command.
