No fewer than six notorious cultists and gangster were arrested in Lagos, as members of two confraternities engaged themselves in supremacy battle.
The cultists, said to be members of the Aiye and Eiye Confraternity were said to have used different dangerous weapons such as axe and cutlass during the clash which occurred at Demurin area of Alapere in Ketu.
According to reports, the suspects were arrested by Operatives Operation Crush attached to Alapere Division at about 10pm on 18th October, 2019.
Two of the suspects, identified as Olawale Toheeb, 22, and Joseph Obinna 25, said to be the ringleaders of the gangs were reportedly apprehended at the scene by the team led by the Divisional Police Officer.
The others, named Obasi Ekene 21years Promise Onoja18 years, OgoekeWeri Omokosi 24years and Saviour Edet 23years, were arrested at their hideout at Mack Brown Hotel, Church Street in the course of investigation.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana who confirmed the arrest, said the suspects confessed to belong to Eiye and Aiye Confraternity and were responsible for series of violent attacks recorded in Alapere and environ.
His words, “On 18/10/2019 at about 2200hours, Operatives of Operation Crush attached to Alapere Division received an information that some gangsters suspected to be members of Eiye and Aiye Confraternity, engaged themselves in a battle of supremacy with dangerous weapons such as Axe and Cutlass, at Demurin area, Alapere.
The team, led by the Divisional Police Officer Alapere arrested two key leaders of the gangs namely, Olawale Toheeb ‘m’ 22years old and Joseph Obinna ‘m’ 25years old.
Investigation was extended to the gangs hideout at Mack Brown Hotel, Church Street Alapere were four additional suspects namely, Obasi Ekene ‘m’ 21years old, Promise Onoja ‘m’ 18 years old, OgoekeWeri Omokosi ‘m’ 24years old and Saviour Edet ‘m’ 23years old, were arrested.
The suspects confessed to belong to Eiye and Aiye Confraternity respectively and are responsible for series of violent attacks recorded in Alapere and environ.
A large quantity of weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp, short Axes and Cutlasses were recovered from their hideout.
