Operatives of Lagos State Police Command attached to the Owutu Police, Ikorodu area of the state have arrested a suspected cultist Sodiq Azeez, over alleged attempt to kill his godfather Jamiu Mohammed 22, who facilitated his initiation into cultism at the Ikorodu area of Lagos state.

The suspects were arrested on July, 24, at about 8.30am at Itabale Igbolomu area of Owutu, Ikorodu while engaging each other in a fight.

It was gathered that men of the Owutu police led by Chief Superintendent of Police, Margret Okonkwo moved to the scene of the incident where a locally made pistol was recovered from Azeez and the two were arrested and taken to the police station for interrogation.

It was gathered that during interrogation Azeez, had opened up to the police that he wanted to kill Mohammed for his refusal to refund the money he paid to him to facilitate his initiation into a cult.

The suspect said he bought the gun for ten thousand naira for self-defense from other rival cult groups.

“I bought the gun from one Suleiman who is now on the run so when Mohammed refused to refund my money because I know that he cheated me, I then decided to kill him before the arrival of the policemen who came to arrest us.” He explained.

Meanwhile, the suspects have been transferred from the Owutu police station to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) Panti-Yaba, Lagos for a discreet investigations.

Confirming the incident the state’s Police Public Relations Officer Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the suspects would be charged to court at the end of police investigations.
