Policemen attached to the Owutu police division have thwarted an early morning robbery operation at the Ikorodu area of Lagos state.

Report sayd at about 3.30am the police operatives who were on patrol led by Chief Superintendent of Police, Margret Okonkwo intercepted a Faragun bus with registration Number TTB 999 SA which conveyed an eight –man robbery gang suspects.

It was gathered that the driver attempted to escape but the police blocked them from moving further and instead of allowing the police operatives a search of the vehicle the occupants of the bus escaped to different directions.

It was gathered that in the ensued confusion six of the suspects who were in the bus managed to escape while two were arrested by the police.

Those arrested are one 29-year-old Adebayo Aderele and Adebayo Aderemi, 40 years.

The suspects have confessed that they came from Idimu area of Lagos state to Ikorodu on a robbery operation but they don’t know their target as one of them who led the gang was among those that escaped when the police stopped them.

Source said a locally made pistol, two cutters, their operational vehicle and other weapons have been recovered from them while the suspects are undergoing interrogation at the Owutu police division and would soon be transferred to the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) Panti-Yaba, Lagos State for a discreet investigations.
